Goal
The goal is to inspire and encourage students to read independently for pleasure and to read books that are on, above, and below their reading level in order to improve their reading fluency.
What will be done with my students
Students will have the opportunity to read all 15 Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) books (grades 3-5) and SSYRA JR. books (grades k-2) In order to complete a book, the students need to take a Reading Counts test for that book. Once they complete a quiz verifying comprehension then they will be awarded a Brag Tag specifically for that book. Each Brag Tag is the cover of the book and the year.
Benefits to my students
This will benefit my students because it will develop student interest in reading for pleasure by exposing them to a wide range of appropriate literature. The students will develop skills in fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.
Budget Narrative
Using this budget on SSYRA Brag Tags will not only inspire and encourage students to read independently for pleasure but also help build students confidence. The pride the students show when they show off their brag tags to other students and teachers is unmatched!
