Goal

The goal of this project is to purchase an additional copy of Math in Practice books for each grade level so that we can do a book study with the Math Vertical team. 

 

What will be done with my students

Math in Practice is a guide that teachers can use while planning that helps them explore teaching strategies that will enhance students' understanding of Math. It is designed to help teachers gain insight into Math. Additionally, Math in Practice contains tips and strategies for helping students better understand critical Math skills and concepts as well as a collection of teaching activities that can be implemented in class. Last year we received a grant to purchase one copy of the Math in Practice books for each grade level to use during team planning sessions. All grade levels felt that this resource was very beneficial and helped improve Math instruction schoolwide. As a result, student learning improved. Because it was so successful, we'd like to order an additional copy of the book for each team to use when planning for instruction. Additionally, the members of the Math Vertical team will be participating in a book study using Math in Practice. Consequently, Math instruction will be enhanced which will improve student learning. 

 

Benefits to my students

Student achievement in grades k-5 will increase as a result of utilizing Math in Practice during team planning and our book study. Teams will work collaboratively in order to implement strategies that will enhance the mathematics classroom.  

 

Budget Narrative

The Math in Practice school bundle contains 1 set of books for each grade level, k-5, for a total cost of $673.43 (including shipping).
