Goal
The goal would be to have supplies to complete investigations allowing students to build a deeper understanding their science standards through hands on activities.
What will be done with my students
In order for students to understand their science standards, they must be able to participate in hands on activities. The supplies I have requested will help with multiple units covering at least 10 different standards. All investigations (activities) will be facilitated by the teacher to ensure students are completing the investigation correctly.
Benefits to my students
According to our beginning of the year assessment, only 8% of our 5th grade students were proficient in their 4th grade standards. This means that 92% of our 5th grade students are not proficient in below grade level standards. I believe by making science more hands on, our 8% should increase to at least 50%.
