Goal
The goal is to provided hands-on experiences for the students to be able to identify the organs and compare them to other organs. The Florida Standard that will be covered is FL.5.L.14.1 and L.14.2.
What will be done with my students
The students will experience a classroom transformation. The classroom will transform into a surgery center. The benefits of these hands-on activities will allow the fifth-grade scholars to engage in real world activities. The students will identify the main organs of the human body with a human body model and compare these organs with other organs. The students will use an Operation Game to match the organs to their functions. They will also dissect a brain made out of jell-o and find clues to an organ's activity.
Benefits to my students
The benefits of the classroom transformation into a surgery center are the engage in real world situations, for example, identify the organs and how the function and how they compare to the other organs.
Describe the Students
The scholars at Lakewood Elementary School are mainly low performing scholars that learn best with hands-on activities. The school is a Title 1 school.
