Goal
To assist in the start up the Floral design program at Brandon high school and allow students to learn hands on skills in floral design creating arrangements and learning tools and plant identification.

What will be done with my students
Students will be able to immerse themselves in the floral design industry by learning the proper techniques of creating floral arrangements using live and artificial flowers. Students will be able to properly identify various types of flowers used in floral arrangements, how to grow and harvest various types of flowers, how to utilize marketing strategies for their products and understand proper ways to run a business.
Adding this course will allow us to set up a school-based enterprise that will provide low-cost items to the students, who will greatly benefit since we are a title one school. For school dances students can create low-cost options for corsages and boutonnieres and many students will be able to benefit from this program.
Benefits to my students
Students will create floral arrangements for various occasions and wearable arrangements like corsages and boutonnieres. They will sell the items they create and create marketing items such as flyers, commercials, etc to promote their creations. Students will also utilize the greenhouse area to grow their own flowers that they can use in their arrangements. Students will also learn how to create non floral items such as balloon arches/arrangements, gift baskets and more. This program will allow students to gain hands on skills for a career outside of high school and develop those skills for resume building for the future.
Budget Narrative
Items purchased will be used to start up our new Floral design course. The items will include a floral cooler, which will be used to help keep their flowers fresh for their arrangements, tools for building arrangements and starting supplies such as floral foam, floral tape, wire wreaths, and more.
All items have been found on Amazon, but other vendors or donations can be used.
