Goal

The goal of the IGNITE project is to enhance STEM education for gifted and Advanced students in grades k-5. To Provide them with hands-on/ Minds-on Experiences to help them grow as innovators, scientists and learners.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

The IGNITE project will provide gifted students in grades K-5 with a variety of STEM, Wondershop robotics, Stem Supplies and additional hands-on kits that align with Florida’s Science and Mathematics standards. These materials will be integrated into the classroom curriculum to support and enhance STEM instruction.

Wondershop Dash robotics, along with their versatile accessories, will provide a comprehensive and engaging platform for teaching STEM concepts in our gifted/advanced classroom. These programmable robots will enable students to explore coding, problem-solving, and engineering principles in a hands-on and interactive manner. By building, coding, and controlling Dash, students develop critical thinking skills, creativity, and a deeper understanding of how technology works. The addition of Dash accessories, such as the building blocks, gripper, sketch, and launcher further enhances the learning experience by providing opportunities for students to customize their robots, experiment with different functionalities, and solve more complex challenges. This multi-faceted approach to STEM education fosters a love of learning and prepares students for future success in a technology-driven world.

Additional Hands-On Kits: These kits will focus on specific STEM areas (physical, earth, and life science). They will provide students with opportunities to conduct experiments, build models, and collect data. These will provide students with hands-on minds on innovative projects to keep them engaged and growing as learners. All while meeting and aligning with our Florida State standards.

Basic STEM materials- These materials will enable students to conduct a variety of STEM and Design challenges. Basic materials include objects that are used to design, build and test designs through hands on explorations. Example of materials - Straws, cups, string, vinegar, ect. These items are essentials to conduct STEM design challenges, however they are consumable and we are consistently in need of new items.

Benefits to my students

Expected outcomes include but not limited to:

1. To equip gifted students with the necessary tools to explore STEM concepts through hands-on experimentation.

2. To cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills among students.

3. To increase student engagement and motivation in STEM subjects.

5. Build understanding and capabilities in the robotic field through a variety of robotic platforms.

4. To increase students knowledge of science and mathematic and raise academic success and test scores.

The project’s success will be evaluated through multiple measures:

Student Achievement: Pre and post-tests will be administered to assess students’ STEM knowledge and skills. Students currently have a 20% knowledge base understanding of Robotics in September 2024, The goal is to boost that to 80% or higher by May 2025.

Student Engagement: Teacher observations and, student surveys will be used to measure student interest and motivation in STEM.

Budget Narrative

The materials above will purchase Wonderdash Robotics accessories, Magnet and push/pull learning kits to meet physical science standards. and Stem Supples to allow for students to conduct hands on STEM design Challenges that align with the Florida and mathmatics Standards
