Goal

The goal of this project is to expose middle school aged girls to a foundational understanding of coding and robotics that sparks excitement for STEM disciplines, while also achieving mastery of relevant content standards in a fun and engaging learning environment.

What will be done with my students

Exposing young girls to coding not only cultivates their interest in STEM fields but also paves the way for future careers in technology and innovation. By introducing coding in an engaging and supportive environment, I aim to inspire a passion for problem-solving and creativity, equipping girls with the skills and confidence to pursue diverse opportunities in STEM disciplines. With this, the use of the robots will not only serve as exposure to STEM, but be used as a method to engage students in the content standards. The robots would be utilized on an ongoing basis throughout the school year. 

 

Benefits to my students

Through participating in this project, 90% students will be able to develop block coding in order to maneuver a robot to a given target.

This would provide a class set of Sphero bots for 6th grade students to utilize in class.
