Goal
To enhance 5th grade students' understanding of American history and foster critical thinking skills through the engaging and educational novel Chains: The Seeds of America Trilogy, Book 1 by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book will serve as a catalyst for deepening students' empathy, comprehension, and analytical abilities by immersing them in the experiences of a young enslaved girl during the American Revolution.

What will be done with my students
Students will read the novel Chains: The Seeds of America Trilogy, Book 1 by Laurie Halse Anderson.
