Goal

To increase social skills through participation in a musical ensemble for school wide performances. Our school is in need of a sound system that will allow us to have outside performances.

What will be done with my students

BayCrest Elementary is a multi-cultural school with a high population of Spanish speaking students. In our musical ensembles we will be performing songs that are in Spanish ,as well as other languages for school wide performances. Research shows that music education increases social skills, cognitive skills, as well as giving the students a sense of accomplishment when performing music. Our students will feel a sense of pride when they perform songs in their native languages.  

 

Benefits to my students

Students will feel successful at accomplishing the goal of participating in a musical ensemble. This experience will increase the student's self-esteem, social and language skills. Performing these songs in Spanish and English will assist in teaching both languages. Our performance events are all outside, so having a high quality sound system will allow this to be a wonderful and successful experience for our students.
