Investor
Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Hillsborough Education Foundation - $325.00
Goal
Students will plant flowers from seed while they are in the detention center (usually for 21 days) and tend a tiny garden with a small native citrus tree and existing flowers from previous students. Seeds can be grown in peat pots with each students' name so they can take ownership of care.

What will be done with my students
In addition to teaching some basic botany lessons, these plants can give incarcerated kids something to look forward to on a daily basis. Additionally, this project lends itself discussion of legacies and how actions taken now may have long term consequences. This is certainly a message that is important for my type of student to hear.
Benefits to my students
Students will enjoy planting flowers and seeing something beautiful in what is by nature a very sad and depressing facility
Budget Narrative
The rest of the gardening supplies are things that I already have. No further assistance would be necessary
