Goal
The goal of this project is to create a calm and relaxed corner in the School Counselor's office so that students can calm down from their big feelings and when appropriate, return to their classrooms to continue learning. The calm down corner will have an array of tools that students can use to calm down and self-regulate when they feel intense emotions during the school day. Using self-regulation tools will help students be able to refocus and get back to learning and other school-related activities.

What will be done with my students
The beauty of this project is that all students in the school can access the Counselor's Calm Down Corner and can use them when they are feeling intense emotions.
Our school boasts a wide variety of learners. We have general education students, students learning a second language, students with learning disabilities, students with intellectual disabilities, and students span preschool age through fifth grade. All of these learners experience unique circumstances that could be stir up intense emotions at times throughout the school day. The tools and materials in my project are varied and unique, so these tools will work for the unique students using them.
It is important that every student in our school has equal access to items that can help them calm down, refocus, and get back to the incredible learning that they can experience here at Seminole Heights Elementary School.
Benefits to my students
With this project funded, students will have guaranteed access to tools to calm down when they feel intense emotions such as anxiety, frustration, anger, embarrassment, or sadness. Students can use these tools to release their emotions and get back to the learning quickly and safely once they leave the School Counselor's office.
This can also increase learning outcomes, as students will be able to return to their academic tasks after they are calm and ready to learn. This will also help students continue to boost their academic achievements and pursue their goals.
All of these tools will benefit students at Seminole Heights Elementary School, so they can continue their amazing learning.

These items will be used in the calm down corner in my office. Students will be able to access different sensory items in order to help them regulate and calm down. Once students feel calm and regulated, they will be able to go back to class and get back to their learning.
