Goal

My goal this year is to take a deep dive into UFLI and boost student confidence and engagement in the program by providing them their own new set of resources to help them stay organized and engaged in their learning.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

Working in an environment where many of my students come from big families or communal living with multiple families and/or family members occupy 1 space, many have never had the luxury of having something new or something they can call their own. This project, if funded will benefit my students by providing them with new materials to help excite their love of learning and also help teach them organizational skills by providing them with their own materials and dedicated spaces to house them in for the school year. By teaching them organization and structure with their materials this will help them overall as a student, which in result will be helping to increase their independent skills and build their overall confidence within the classroom and with their learning.

Benefits to my students

My expected outcome by this proposal being funded is that all 24 of my students will be able to become more independent facilitators of their learning through the use of routines and structures being established with the materials being provided through this grant. My goal is that it will also encourage my young learners to take pride in their learning by having ownership of their own materials to be used for the duration of the school year. By providing the students the materials they need to my goal is that they will be more engaged in UFLI and that at least 50% of my students' alphabet and letter sounds knowledge will increase resulting in better reading and decoding skills by the end of the year. The result of whether the outcomes are met will be determined by beginning and end of the year assessments.
