Goal
This year we are continuing to offer art as a class for the ACCESS Students at our school. Art can be a very therapeutic and fun experience for children as they explore their own creativity. As educators, it is important to remember that the arts can help students with disabilities in many ways, including: Building fine-motor and problem-solving skills. Enhancing communication and expression. Promoting self-esteem and motivation to succeed.
Category
School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc.
What will be done with my students
While art is important for all children, it's crucial for kids with special needs. Artistic activities directly exercise and strengthen the cognitive and physical skills that generally challenge special needs children, such as oral, tactile, visual, sensory and motor skills.
Benefits to my students
The expected outcome for this project is to provide materials specifically for ACCESS art. It is our goal to provide a positive experience that these students look forward to while in school and a chance to explore their own creativity.
Budget Narrative
Listed are some of the desired materials for our ACCESS art class. All funds donated will be used to purchase arts & crafts materials that will be used in our ACCESS art students.
