Goal

I would like to receive $950 to fund a bus to the Biology Day event at Busch Gardens.

What will be done with my students

Students in 7th grade science will enhance their understanding of life science topics as they participate in various activities presented by Busch Gardens experts. Biology Day connects with the following Next Generation Science Standards:
SC.6.N.1.4, SC.6.N.1.5, SC.6.N.2.2, SC.6.L.14, SC.6.L.15, SC.7.N.2.1, SC.7.L.15, SC.7.L.16, SC.8.N.1.6, SC.8.N.2.1, SC.8.L.18, SC.912.L.14, SC.912.L.15, SC.912.L.16, SC.912.L.18 

 

Benefits to my students

Students will learn about animal behaviors, genetics, inheritance, animal nutrition and more. They will be able to connect this knowledge to interesting and fun activities at the park. Students will bring this knowledge back to the classroom to apply to future lessons in 7th grade life science.

Before the trip, students will participate in a pre-assessment based on the topics they will learn at the park. They will complete a student packet created by Busch Gardens staff to compliment the in-person experiences. After the trip, students will complete a post-assessment to measure their learning.
