Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

This project seeks to introduce a series of "Morning Bins" into my preschool classroom to provide structured, engaging activities that foster growth across key developmental areas, including math, science, social-emotional learning, and literacy. These morning bins will serve as a tool to enhance early childhood education by aligning with the Florida Early Learning Standards and supporting the developmental needs of our young learners.

Goal

This project seeks to introduce a series of "Morning Bins" into my preschool classroom to provide structured, engaging activities that foster growth across key developmental areas, including math, science, social-emotional learning, and literacy. These morning bins will serve as a tool to enhance early childhood education by aligning with the Florida Early Learning Standards and supporting the developmental needs of our young learners.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

The bins will consist of items that I have researched for this specific purpose and will fulfill multiple functions across three different areas of the classroom and schedule. Not only will they be used as ”morning bins” during arrival time, but also across multiple areas of the classroom including but not limited to small groups where my students work cooperatively with each other as well as in learning centers during center time. I plan to rotate the bins out weekly or with our Unit changes according to our curriculum.

Benefits to my students

By including various thematic bins, that correlate to our monthly unit themes provided by our curriculum, each bin focused on one of the key domains—math, science, social-emotional development, and literacy—the bins will provide many benefits to my preschoolers, including encouraging creativity and imagination, supporting language development, strengthening problem-solving skills, developing fine motor skills, enhancing social skills, helping to build confidence and nurturing a positive attitude about learning that will carry over into higher grades.

Games that I have included will be introduced during small group at the teachers table and then rotated into their bins, so they can learn crucial problem solving skills, conflict resolution skills, sharing, communication skills, etc.
Lincoln Logs along with other building materials will be used for open ended building and provide critical thinking skills.
Mini chalkboard and chalk will provide letter writing and recognition in a fun and creative way.
Potato heads and mini doll houses will foster creativity and allow my students to create stories, learn life, organizational, and classification skills.
Chain links and other materials will be used to promote mathematical thinking skills such as sorting, comparing and contrasting, measuring, counting, etc.
