Goal

Improve Student Focus: Provide an alternative seating option during math and science centers that promotes better concentration during lessons.

Enhance Student Engagement through Active Learning: Increase student participation, engagement, and focus during lessons by providing movement through active seating options.

Support Diverse Learning Styles: Cater to kinesthetic learners and those with attention difficulties, creating a more inclusive environment.

What will be done with my students

Purchase of Wobble Stools: Acquire12 wobble stools for classroom use during daily one-on-one small-group reading and math centers.

Implementation Plan: Introduce wobble stools into small group reading and math stations with the goal of increased focus and engagement

Monitoring and Evaluation: Track student engagement and performance through observations as well as informal assessments of student engagement and academic performance to evaluate the impact of wobble stools.

Increased Engagement: Wobble stools encourage active participation and reduce distractions, leading to improved academic performance.

Enhanced Focus: Movement promotes blood flow and oxygenation to the brain, enhancing cognitive function and reducing classroom disruptions related to restlessness and lack of focus.

Development of Self-Regulation Skills: Students learn to manage their movement while remaining focused on tasks, fostering independence and self-regulation.

Improved Comfort: Flexible seating arrangements allow students to choose a comfortable position, reducing discomfort associated with prolonged sitting.

By funding the purchase of wobble stools, Walton Education Foundation will enable us to transform our classroom environments into ones that supports active learning and accommodates diverse needs. I believe that this initiative will not only enhance student focus and engagement during centers, but also contribute to a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere where all students can thrive and achieve their fullest potential.
