Goal

In today’s diverse educational landscape, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment is essential for fostering student engagement and academic growth. This proposal seeks funding to implement flexible seating options, such as stools, lap desks, and small group instructional materials to provide students with every opportunity for success in their academic endeavors. These resources will particularly benefit low-performing and struggling students in small group instruction, providing them with the tools they need to thrive.

What will be done with my students

1. Implement Flexible Seating Options: Create a classroom environment that encourages movement and collaboration through flexible seating arrangements (bean bags, stools, classroom rug, comfortable seating, etc.).

2. Provide Lap Desks: Equip students with lap desks to facilitate learning in various settings (floor work, small group discussions, etc.).

3. Enhance Small Group Instruction: Acquire materials that support targeted instruction for low-performing and struggling students, such as manipulatives, specialty white boards for multiplication/division, and collaborative learning tools (math games, guided reading highlighters, etc.).
 

 

Benefits to my students

We know all learners are unique and learn in a variety of ways. Many students face significant challenges, sometimes in both their schooling and their home lives. With the right tools and resources as well as an inviting and engaging classroom environment designed to best support these diverse learners, any child can learn. Current classroom setups are primarily traditional, with fixed seating arrangements that do not accommodate varied learning styles or needs. Research has shown that flexible seating can increase student engagement, improve focus, and enhance collaboration. Investing in flexible seating and instructional materials is a vital step toward creating an inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of all students. By providing these resources, we can empower our students to take ownership of their learning and achieve their full potential.

Budget Narrative

The American Plastic Toys Gaming Blue Chairs 6-Pack, Leinuosen 6 Pcs Kids Lap Desk Tray (x 2), Acipenser Folding Floor Chair (x 4), Amazon Basics Pink Relaxing Chair, Amazon Basics Relaxing Chair - Black, Big Joe Fuf Small Foam Filled Bean Bag Chair, Turquoise (x 2), Big Joe Fuf Small Foam Filled Bean Bag Chair, Black (x 2), Trideer Pink Flexible Seating (x 4), Soaoo 8 Pieces Back to School Wood Stackable Stools (x 2) and the Flagship Carpets Schoolgirl Style Simply Stylish Succulents Rug will all be utilized by students in two fourth grade classrooms. These variable seating options will provide students with the opportunity to choose what aligns with their current needs.

The Trend Enterprises: Multiplication & Division Bingo Game, Fraction War Fun Math Game, Five Star Spiral Notebook 6 Pack (x 2), Magnetic Regrouping Math Base Ten Place Value, Multiplication Chart Pop It (x 2), Math Manipulatives White Board for Students (x 6), Multiplication Chart Whiteboard Double-Sided Times Table (x 6), and hand2mind FingerFocus Highlighter Guided Reading Strips will be engaging tools during small group instruction. All of these materials will be extremely beneficial and useful to our lowest performing students.
