Goal

I would like a pair of narrow book trucks to use for displaying SLAM or other highlighted books, as well as shelf letter signs to help organize the picture books.

What will be done with my students

At this time, the shelving for the picture book collection is very crowded, and this is exacerbated by our current shelf markers. The media specialist who was here before me made them with 3-ring binders, which take up valuable shelf space that I would like to use for books instead. I would like to get a set of library shelf markers that will slide between and under books, to save time and make finding library books easy for everyone.
I would also like to have two narrow book trucks to use as a display for SLAM or seasonal books. This would help kids find new or seasonal books as a display to get their attention 

 

Benefits to my students

Students would have a greater variety of picture books to choose from because I would get more shelf space. Also, it helps them to locate books alphabetically. This should increase checkout of picture books by making it easier to browse.

Students will have 2 special carts designated for spotlighted, seasonal, or SLAM books to be held as part of a special collection. I have ordered books to support the science curriculum, with particular focus on the areas of the science test that our students struggled with last year. My hope is to boost the science knowledge by making various science topics more visible and likely for kids to check out.

Budget Narrative

These are supplies from the library vendor DEMCO, which provides high quality items to all kinds of libraries. These items are outside of my budget but they are important for the library to run effectively.
