Goal

Living in Northwest Florida definitely has its advantages of outdoor lifetime fitness opportunities. One of the most prominent of these in our surrounding community is golf. Many of our parents are avid and regular golfers and my goal is to introduce the sport to our students in an attempt to provide them with basic skills to perhaps build on a lifetime of physical fitness, possible opportunities to play in high school or beyond, and to help connect and bond students to their parents who are actively engaged in playing golf on a regular basis.

What will be done with my students

I would like for my students to learn the basics of driving the ball, using irons for shorter distance shots, and the mechanics of properly putting. All of the golf shots require different stances and strategies to perform accurately and effectively. Eventually, I'd like to establish and after-school "golf club" and actually take students to a course to play as a culmination of the season. 

 

Benefits to my students

This would benefit our students by introducing them to a game that is not only a great recreational activity for all ages, but it can also enhance overall health and lifelong fitness as they age. In addition, with the amount of our school families that live on or near golf courses and actually play regularly, this can be a great bonding opportunity for our students with their parents/families.
