Goal

Our goal is for 80% of our students to be proficient on the end of Quarter 4 District Writing Assessment. Currently only 25% of our two classes were proficient on the Quarter 1 District Writing Assessment.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

Mrs. Greene's second grade class and Mrs. Hollar's fourth grade class will each complete a research project and write an expository book. After studying the writing process to complete their book, students will use this kit to publish their own book. Then they will have an author's release party and share their book with the other class.

Benefits to my students

Students will learn the writing process through hands-on work. Students will increase engagement in learning by becoming the author and being excited to share their work.

Budget Narrative

With the grant we will purchase 60 individual book publishing kits, one for each student in both of our classes.
