Goal

The goal of this grant is to share real-life experiences with Pre-K age students. This grant will allow small children to explore their natural curiosity. They will learn what it is like to be police officers, firefighters, barbers/beauticians, donut shop and bakery owners, farmers market vendors, taco truck operators, veterinarians, doctors, ice cream parlor owners, and pizza shop owners. They will understand what it takes to be a community servant/helper.

What will be done with my students

Throughout the school year, the dramatic play area will be transformed so that students can experience various community jobs. They will be able to explore their natural curiosities and use their imagination to pretend to be adults such as moms, dads, and grandparents. This will help them understand what it's like to be a consumer and learn about the responsibilities of different jobs. Additionally, they will learn about sharing and taking on responsibilities, as well as how to communicate with their peers in their center. 

 

Benefits to my students

Students will learn that community helpers are important because they keep people and their communities safe, improve quality of life, and help the community function well. Providing the necessary supplies will allow students to make realistic comparisons. The discussions taking place in the center will have a significant impact on most students' learning. This center will enhance math, language, peer interaction, planning, and social-emotional skills.

Budget Narrative

I have selected each item carefully to build a bin that can be easily swapped out for student interaction and learning. I tried to choose items that were eligible for free shipping on Amazon, but there were a few necessary items that didn't qualify. All items will be shipped from Amazon.
