What will be done with my students
Low performing atudents that are below grade level will set goals with regular check-ins to measure and track progress on their performance. These students must work twice as hard to cover the academic ground necessary to catch up with class peers. These students struggle daily and are often far behind the required ability levels. Most are not capable of understanding an intrinsic reward because their successes are inconsistent and seldom. Incentivizing their goals helps them learn that hard work pays off. Students review their performance each week on individualized academic goals such as Lexia units (a Walton County School approved literacy app), AR points (comprehension quiz points), small group reading progress, and test scores.
Benefits to my students
Closing the academic gap to perform on grade level with peers will ensure positive progress in future grades as well as build student confidence. The prize wheel, reward jar, and tracking posters can be used again for future students.
