Goal
The purpose of this project is to create a weed free, butterfly garden at school and also develop appropriate habitat for butterflies and help to protect it. Other information will include choosing appropriate plants for this habitat, associated curriculum, outdoor learning center ideas, garden clubs, themed gardens, parent training's and other fun activities.
What will be done with my students
Students will plant and maintain a butterfly garden. Students will gain knowledge in math skills, such as measuring, calculating how much to water depending on the weather, etc. They will develop a greater understanding of how seeds grow into plants and what is needed to keep them alive. What kid of butterflies we have in Florida? How can we help to protect the habitat for them? How do butterflies migrate? Why?
Benefits to my students
This will help students have a higher order thinking skills. They will develop their critical thinking skills on math, science, social study. It also help them to have better understanding animals life and their habitat.
