Goal
To create a certification program whereby 12th grade cadets that are eligible can become certified in drone operations by attaining three separate certifications to become drone operators. The plan is to begin instruction in the 2021/2022 academic year to allow for certification of instructor and purchase of required items.
What will be done with my students
In a year long class, students will work to learn basic drone operation and attain two beginning certifications including one from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The second semester will focus on operations and experience culminating in the Visual Line of Sight System Operations certification giving them both the ability and experience in basic drone operations.
Benefits to my students
These certifications will allow the student to apply for and receive a job as a drone operator for one of many companies that is taking advantage of this emerging technology. These jobs can vary in salary but the range is from 40K to 85k per year depending on which industry and location you choose.
