Goal
I would like to purchase age and level appropriate books that are engaging for my students. With the purchase of Scholastic Accelerated Reader books, my classroom library will be enhanced by one hundred exciting new book titles for my students to enjoy! Since these books will be labeled with their Accelerated Reader Level, I will be able to make sure each student is reading a book that is at their correct reading level.
What will be done with my students
These books will be used on a daily basis in my classroom. Each day during our ELA center rotations my students visit a center simply called "Library." During the library center, the students grab a book and get cozy in our classroom reading nook. After finishing their story, the students will complete a graphic organizer. They will be working on determining the characters, settings, and events in their stories. My students will also be able to take Accelerated Reader quizzes to further test their comprehension of the books they are reading.
Benefits to my students
All twenty-two of my kindergarten students will benefit from the reading materials purchased through this grant. Our classroom library will be full of age and level appropriate books that will keep my students engaged. These books will continue to provide my students with an array of reading choices throughout the years.
Budget Narrative
With this grant I will be able to purchase two different sets of Accelerated Reader books from Scholastic. Each set of readers contains fifty books. Two sets of Scholastic Accelerate Reader books plus shipping is $407.66.
