Goal
Our students need more literacy and print materials at school and home. They need to build background and prior knowledge of vocabulary and authentic experiences for STEM and literacy with magazines and book sets.
What will be done with my students
Students will have access to print rich materials full of text features. Alligned lessons are supported with articles full of adjectives and adverbs. Students are motivated to grow depth of understanding. Emerging readers have published articles in centers that excite and engage them into reading more. When the Standards Based testing arrives, my students will have strong background experience to support their success on the high stakes tests. Current Scholastic issues and events provide rich conversation during small group and whole group instruction.
Benefits to my students
The "growth mindset" is activated, as students investigate and inquire about the topics shared with peers and teachers.
