Goal
To provide snacks for the Eagle to Eagle tutoring program, hoping to motivate 50+ high-risk students to attend and work on homework, study for tests, or receive tutoring for any subject--regardless of difficulty--with the goal of raising graduation rates and grades in the classroom.
What will be done with my students
Students will come in a classroom twice a week, be given food, drink and receive tutoring from 2:15-3:15.
This is a peer-driven program. Student volunteers from Key Club and the National Honors Society will help tutor students to earn service hours.
Benefits to my students
This is a great opportunity for high-risk, low motivation students to go to a classroom and receive quality tutoring to help them in the classroom. The benefits directly influence students' grades and graduation rates.
Also, low socioeconomic students will have the opportunity to be given food, a concept that will motivate them to attend, but also provide a service that students may not receive at home.
Budget Narrative
Students will be given food upon entering the tutoring area, and given an option for drinking (No sodas!). Depending on the student's situation at home, they may be given food as they leave, so they have something to eat later that night.
