Goal

Students will use reading (Charles Wheelan's Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science) to gain understanding in economics. Engaging Student friendly content will entice students to inquire and answer questions about the economic world around them. 

 

What will be done with my students

Students will read short chapters, analyzing and synthesizing economic information to gain an understanding within the specified unit. Selected readings will be chosen to better allow students to apply knowledge in a relevant way. Naked Economics by Charles Wheelan is a very entertaining book, a great read with excellent examples to teach economic concepts. This will aid in lessons throughout the semester.  

 

Benefits to my students

Students will gain relevant economic examples for each unit. They will create a multimedia presentation that will demonstrate knowledge that they have learned specifically throughout Wheelan’s book. Demonstration of economic content with specific examples to support will be required. Students will hypothesize about their own economic question (with the related economic content) and synthesize an answer with the knowledge that they have gained. 

 

Budget Narrative

Charles Wheelan's book, "Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science" is found on Amazon for $12.66. I would like to purchase 35 copies for a class set to accomplish my goal. This totals $443.10.
