Goal
It is my goal for all of my students to be proficient in the 4th grade Science standards. With hands on projects, I would like my students to be able to research scientific problems that exist in our natural world. Students can use their knowledge to research and solve real world problems in our world. Some examples would be global warming, pollution, and carbon footprints.
What will be done with my students
Students will actively be engaged to research some of the scientific problems that exist such as carbon footprints, pollution, and global warming. Students will read about such topics and become versed in the knowledge of each area. Students will investigate how to solve these problems using the scientific method whereby each team will gather data and find a way to solve the problem. Students will use iPads to be able to research these areas and be able to do an iMovie or PowerPoint to get the word out to kids in our school. Next, they will research and gather data to report back to the school on our daily morning news program.
Benefits to my students
Students will help to strategize, inform and research areas of concern in our environment. Students will use their research, quantitative and qualitative data, and writing skills to communicate their findings with others at our school through iMovie, or PowerPoint.
