Goal

Our goal is to fund five student teams, of ten students per team, who are competing in the Team America Rocketry Challenge, the world's largest rocketry competition.

What will be done with my students

Students will design their rockets in CAD, run simulations of the expected performance, then build and fly the rocket, fine tuning it until the rocket performs within competition specifications. Students construct their rockets using a 3D printer, laser cutter, three-axis mill, and custom carbon fiber parts. We have at least 15 launches a year for each team.

Benefits to my students

The students are engaged in a true-to-life, hands on engineering challenge. This competition drives interest in post secondary education and career STEM fields.

Budget Narrative

Most teams need a minimum of five design iterations to be competitive in the national finals. Each flight costs approximately $15 in rocket motors. From past experience, we have estimated preparation for this competition to cost $800 per team, not including travel to the finals.

2 building components (5 rockets per team) $500.00
