Goal

To enhance literacy rich environments at home for low performing Kindergarten and 1st grade students.

What will be done with my students

With these funds we would purchase literacy games and materials to give to families of Kindergarten and 1st grade students who are below expectations in the areas of letter naming and letter sounds.

Benefits to my students

This will help increase early literacy skills in our youngest learners by providing additional practice and exposure with academic skills outside of school hours. Building these foundational skills early on will help students perform as fluent readers when they move forward to 2nd and 3rd grade.

Describe the Students

Students who are scoring in the Tier 3 (most intensive need) on school-wide data will receive this additional support. Many of these students are from low SES families and may have some special education needs as well. Garrison-Jones Elementary School is Title 1 school due to the number of families who lower income.

Budget Narrative

Targeted students would receive a combination of 2 of the 3 materials based on their age and specific skill deficits.
