Goal
To increase our students' basic math skills in the home setting and during opportunities in the school day for extra math skill practice.
What will be done with my students
Twenty students K-5 who are performing below expectations in math will be provided with materials to take home that support math skills. Materials will also be used to help practice math skills and math facts during the school day during transitions such as walking in the morning gate or at the end of a lunch period.
Benefits to my students
Additional practice and exposure to math skills outside of the usual instructional times will help strengthen students' foundational math skills. This will help fill gaps in math knowledge and help students become more proficient in their math skills as they progress through the grades.
Describe the Students
Garrison-Jones is a Title 1 school due to the % of families who are low income. Students that will receive these extra math materials will be identified based on school-wide data and will be students who are performing significantly below the expectations. Some of these are students who have special education needs or are ESOL students.
Budget Narrative
Identified students will receive one of the above games to take home. Additional games will be utilized during opportunities for additional practice with math skills at school such as at the end of a lunch period.
