Goal

The goal for this request is to provide a computer program for students in the realm of science to help supplement learning. Our students during small group get to spend a part of their block on technology. It would be such a benefit for the students to have a program they could explore and learn Science content, while also having fun and engaged. This is also a program we would use to make certain concepts hands on that are not possible in a real situations. For example state standards require 5th grade science students to know the parts of the digestive system. Gizmos has its own simulation where students build and create their own digestive systems.  

What will be done with my students

This is a program that will be used constantly throughout the year to support and supplement science instruction. In 5th grade students are require to take an end of year test through the state. Retention on information is required for these students to be successful. A program like Gizmos helps the concepts become concrete and real, which leads to higher scores on state testing.
The simulations on Gizmos follows are curriculum throughout the year whenever their is a possibility to have testable simulations. It also has simulations for our lower level students to engage in concepts on their level, as well their are concepts for our advanced students who need that level of rigor to keep them actively engaged.

Gizmos are an innovative educational tool designed to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning. Gizmos are interactive simulations specifically created to assist students in developing a deep and enduring understanding of complex mathematical and scientific concepts through active inquiry and exploration, thus nurturing their STEM skills. Rooted in the renowned 5E instructional model, Gizmos afford students the invaluable experience of private think time and the flexibility to repeatedly engage with the simulations as needed to solidify their understanding, promoting problem-solving and critical thinking abilities crucial in STEM fields.
