Goal

The goal of this project is to provide universally designed tools to students in my classroom. These tools will support all learners in accessing new information being taught. 

What will be done with my students

The tools provided by this grant will be used throughout our day to support students in daily tasks based on the components of the Universal Design for Learning framework. These components include engagement, representation, and action and expression. 

Benefits to my students

These tools benefit my students because they are supported by the Universal Design for Learning framework which allows for all learners to be successful in the general education classroom.  

Budget Narrative

Multisensory tools will be used in my classroom to increase engagement and make the material being taught hands on and interactive. Multisensory tools also support the development of fine motor skills that children need for writing. Snap words, the fidget game, and addition by heart provide a different approach to sight words and math facts for students who struggle with memorization. The text to speech text support bilingual learners and students who are learning to read. The pen dictates written text and supports student comprehension. Flexible seating supports engagement and provides sensory input to aid in focus for students throughout the day. All of these tools have been put through the Universal Design for Learning framework and are research based in supporting student learning.
