Goal

The goal for this grant is to provide all first grade students an immersive room transformation that will be hitting standards in all subject areas throughout the week.  

What will be done with my students

Students will step into the classroom that is transformed into a donut shop. They will become "donut bakers" and will dive deep into first grade standards and benchmarks. They will knead their way through determining the central idea and blend together their prior knowledge from kindergarten with new skills being taught in math. They will dust off their phonics skills by sprinkling new content to build upon their reading foundational skills.  

Benefits to my students

By participating in this room transformation, students will be thoroughly engaged in the content that is presented by becoming a "baker". The excitement upon walking into the transformed classroom will help to draw students interest into determining the central idea and strengthening their phonics skills. The transformation will also get students up and moving when learning new math skills. It will also build upon their communication skills as they will have to collaborate with their peers to express thoughts and ideas.  

Budget Narrative

The items listed below are priced for 10 first grade classrooms to set the mood for a full classroom transformation to be reused for years to come to create a fully immersive experience that first graders can enjoy for years to come.
