Goal

My goal with this grant is to improve the fluency in which my students identify letters, words, and numbers. Students will use the Fitness & Fluency+ program through educational brain breaks, whole group & individual games and multi-sensory phonics videos to enhance their learning and understanding. Students will use the program added with movement materials to strengthen their gross and fine motor skills while enhancing their fluency of identifying letters, words, and numbers.  

What will be done with my students

Students will be exposed to videos that will review a skill and include a variety of exercises for students to do - There are 3 differentiated levels that benefit every level of student. Students will say the answer to what they see on the screen (solve the math problem, read the CVC word, name the letter, say the missing number, etc), then when they hear the music and see an exercise kid, they’ll do that exercise until another skill comes back on the screen. Students will also be able to use one of the movement materials with the activity.
Students will also have an evidence piece called Fluency Find It. Students simply see what is on the screen, then hunt for that answer on their worksheet and color it quickly. It has 3 levels for differentiation. Worksheets are available with the program.
This will extend the phonics and math curriculum that has already been taught to strengthen all students possibilities for greatest success.
 

Benefits to my students

The Fitness & Fluency+ program provides over 2100 video options for learning and over 1400 videos to show evidence of retention of the information learned. The extension of the movement piece through use of materials will improve their fine and gross motor skills. Evidence has shown that movement in Early Childhood learning leads to a greater level of retaining what a child has learned. The combination of the Fluency and Fitness Program, movement materials, and existing curriculum will give my students the greatest opportunity for success. 

Budget Narrative

All items listed will be used for the extension of the Fitness&Fluency+ program and or incorporated into transitional movements in the classroom for the benefit of all students.
