Goal

I would like to start each day with a morning meaning; teaching vital social skills and how to manage our emotions. These books and activity books would be used whole group to help teach students critical skills to acknowledge, accept and manage their emotions and feelings. The books will also teach important life skills to students.

School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc. 

 

What will be done with my students

Students enter kindergarten with all different backgrounds and emotional experiences. As we begin our day learning about our feelings and how we can accept and handle all emotions life might throw at us, we can be better students and citizens. These books and activity books would help teach students critical skills to acknowledge, accept and manage their emotions and feelings. The life skill books will also teach like skills to students.

The cards will enable us to apply our knowledge at our morning class meetings. 

 

Benefits to my students

These books and activity cards will make social emotional learning fun and in turn make my classroom an inviting, safe place for all students. As a result of SEL, the kindergarten students I teach will be better students and better citizens of our community.  

 

Budget Narrative

These books and cards will be used in a whole group setting as part of our morning meeting routine. We will learn about a different emotion and social skill weekly. The class set of kindness books will be given to each student after going through all the emotions; These will first be used in whole group, then individual reading.
