Goal

My goal is for students to have the opportunity to express their learning in the style that best meets their needs. An iPad would give students an additional tool to use that they currently do not have.

Category

Electronics - Personal computers/tablets/iPads, headphones, charging cables, computer mice, etc.

What will be done with my students

Students will have the opportunity to use the iPad to create projects such as paper slideshows, movies, and interviews. They also can work on educational programs and practice their skills. Having a touch screen opens the opportunity to practice their handwriting without wasting paper and use programs that require you to write your answers. One such program we use is called Classkick. With this program you can see a student's work in real time and provide immediate feedback. Another use for the iPad would be for a program called Class Dojo. This is a motivational program where students earn points for exhibiting positive behaviors and for academic accomplishments. Then they use their points to shop at a classroom store. Having an iPad available would provide students the opportunity to mark the points they are earning for passing reading and math lessons which then gets celebrated with a special cheer by the entire class. Class Dojo also serves as a communication platform to keep parents informed on what is happening in class. The iPad would also be used to take pictures of student accomplishments by our photographer of the week and those pictures would be printed and displayed in the classroom as well as posted on Class Dojo for families to see. Lastly, students would have the opportunity to read books on the iPad.

Benefits to my students

Having an iPad would open so many possibilities for my students to display their learning and to practice their skills. Having a piece of technology that has a touch screen opens so many more possibilities for the students in terms of what they can do and the programs they can use.

Budget Narrative

The cost of the iPad is $189.00 and the tax is $11.34.
