Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

The goal of the art show is to create a literacy-based event focusing on picture books that children will become familiar with throughout the semesters. Students will use a variety of skills to create different works of art, and they will get to enjoy different books through exciting art projects. This approach aims to bring the school together by creating a very interactive and fun art show with exciting decorations that unite the entire school community, including middle school students. The art show, titled “Embark on Artful Adventures and Literacy,” will be an interactive evening event where students can educate their parents about the books they read and what they learned along the way. This initiative seeks to foster a love for both reading and art, encouraging students to express their creativity and understanding of the stories. By engaging with picture books, students will not only enhance their literacy skills but also their artistic abilities, making the learning process enjoyable and multifaceted. Ultimately, the art show aims to create a vibrant community event that celebrates student achievements and the joy of learning.

What will be done with my students

Students will begin their journey by reading the selected picture books, getting to know the characters, and immersing themselves in the stories. Once they are familiar with the books, they will dive into various art projects inspired by the narratives. These projects will involve using different artistic mediums such as paint, clay, and mixed media, allowing students to explore and express their creativity in multiple ways. Additionally, I will be able to purchase diverse art supplies and books to enrich the students’ experiences. We will incorporate YouTube videos to watch the stories being read aloud, offering another layer of engagement and understanding. Through these activities, students will learn how to paint, sculpt, and create various forms of art. The art will be interactive, encouraging students to think critically and creatively. This approach not only enhances their artistic skills but also deepens their appreciation for literature, bringing the community together and getting everyone involved in the process.

Benefits to my students

Art shows are incredibly beneficial not only for the community but also for the students and their personal and educational goals. For students, participating in an art show fosters creativity, self-expression, and confidence. It provides them with a platform to showcase their talents and hard work, which can be incredibly motivating and rewarding. The process of creating art based on picture books also enhances their literacy skills, as they learn to interpret and illustrate stories. Moreover, art shows promote a sense of community within the school, bringing together students, teachers, and families to celebrate the students’ achievements. This inclusivity benefits elementary students by giving them a sense of belonging and pride. Middle schoolers, too, gain valuable experience in project management, presentation, and collaboration. Overall, art shows create a dynamic and supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
