Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

The goal of this request is to promote positive job readiness skills while working at assigned job sites. Our students attend the Golden Gate Transition Work Study Program for adults aged 18-22 with special needs. Students work at a variety of job sites in Naples including Paradise Coast Sports Complex, Lely Resort and Spa, Sam Snead's, Goodwill, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Marriott Hotels, and Physician's Regional Hospital. Since these positions are all unpaid positions, we would like to provide an incentive and recognition for our interns. On Fridays, we give awards for students to thank them for their hard work for the week. Some of the awards we have used in the past include Best Team Player, Best Manners, Most Responsible, Best Problem Solver, and Most Assertive.

What will be done with my students

Our teachers and job coaches will observe the students throughout the week and then meet to talk about how the interns performed. We will also be looking at their daily assessment notebooks. After deciding who will receive awards, then the students can come and choose an incentive and get their picture taken. In the past, our principal and other administrators have attended our award ceremonies and we would like to continue this tradition while adding a variety of prizes to award them for working hard.

Benefits to my students

This program will be beneficial to our interns because they thrive on positivity and recognition in front of their peers. By giving these awards and incentives, our interns will strive to do well at work thus increasing their likelihood of eventually gaining meaningful employment.

Budget Narrative

We are so excited to provide our students with incentives to prioritize good work habits!
