What will be done with my students

I plan to create a dramatic play area with dress-up clothes and a toy kitchen, which will encourage imaginative play, social interaction, language development, and communication skills. Clear working areas for ABA will be set up with file cabinets and dividers to minimize distractions. These areas will be equipped with binders for students, timers, and specific toys available only during ABA sessions. Outside, a sensory table will be placed between the IBI classrooms, filled with water, sand, mud, shells, and rocks for sensory exploration. Additionally, I will establish a cozy reading nook with a rug, pillows, and blankets where children can calm down and enjoy their favorite books. Sensory toys such as fidgets and both tangible and edible positive reinforcers will be provided to support self-regulation and motivation during learning activities. To promote self-sufficiency, I will implement a routine for children to brush their teeth in the classroom once or twice a day. Enhancing organization with new cabinets for my desk, a color printer, Velcro circles, and a laminator will help create necessary classroom materials. Lastly, I will decorate the classroom with ABCs on the wall, educational posters, and ensure it is clean and inviting with supplies such as a Swiffer.

Benefits to my students

A well-organized and clearly defined classroom setup will provide a predictable and supportive environment, crucial for children with autism. Engaging play areas, interactive activities, and a cozy reading nook will capture students' interest and make learning enjoyable. The dramatic play area will foster social interaction, language development, and communication skills through imaginative play. Sensory toys and a sensory table will help students self-regulate, reducing anxiety and improving focus during learning activities. Tangible and edible reinforcers will motivate students, encouraging desired behaviors and learning outcomes. Daily tooth brushing routines will promote self-care and independence. A well-decorated, clean, and organized classroom will create a comfortable and calming atmosphere, conducive to learning and development. By implementing these enhancements, I aim to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the unique needs of my students, promotes their development, and fosters a love for learning.

Budget Narrative
