Goal
To provide an opportunity for annotation in real time with access throughout the classroom, encouraging engagement, providing rigor, and utilizing tools that will propel students into the tech savy world in which they live.
Category
Electronics - Personal computers/tablets/iPads, headphones, charging cables, computer mice, etc.
What will be done with my students
Teacher and student led annotation opportunities will be used to engage in texts, but with the benefit of real time for full classroom engagement. The classroom teacher can be on her device, in the middle of the classroom, looking at her text on her device, projecting that text on the whiteboard, all while monitoring engagement of her classroom because of movement allowed, not stuck behind a desk with only a partial view of the text or students.
Benefits to my students
Practice makes perfect. To see annotations in a multitude of methods which is simply taking notes in texts in a meaningful manner - this will curb inhibitions, will create academically rich routines and a culture of deep thinking and engagement in the classroom. The task that is consistently demanded of our students it to analyze texts, and this action of annotation aids that process by slowing the reader's pacing, encouraging a deeper look into the connective tissue of the text, of looking for threads and themes that all provide platforms for academic richness to prosper.
