What will be done with my students
My students who are both verbal and non-speaking will have access to communicate using a picture exchange mode with their teachers, peers, staff, and therapists. The students will be taught to use pictures to communicate their basic wants and needs within the school setting.
Benefits to my students
The benefits to my students using a PECS book would be to learn and utilize how to communicate functionally using picture exchange with staff, peers, and therapists. Students will be able to answer questions by using pictures to communicate with staff.
Budget Narrative
These PECS Starter Kits would be compact and durable to be used with students who are limited verbally or non-speaking. They include 121 pictures within a durable book that is made of a thick, poly plastic material that is smooth to the touch. This set of pictures is a collection of some of the most commonly used pictures for PECS. The pictures that are used are the most commonly used words from various categories that support early language development and communication.
