What will be done with my students

Hands-On Learning: The field trip will enhance our students’ understanding of key historical concepts through interactive exhibits and guided tours. Seeing Edison’s laboratory and Ford’s Model Garage will make abstract concepts tangible and memorable.

Inspiration Through Innovation: The estates offer an interactive experience that brings the stories of Edison and Ford to life. Students will explore Edison's laboratory and Ford's automobile collection, which will help them connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.

Enhanced Learning: This trip will provide an engaging complement to our classroom teachings. Students will see firsthand the inventions that revolutionized the world, making abstract concepts more accessible and exciting.

Motivation and Critical Thinking: By observing how these historical figures turned their ideas into reality, students will be inspired to think creatively and understand the importance of innovative thinking in their own lives. 

 

Benefits to my students

Historical Context: Our curriculum includes studies on American inventors and industrialists. Visiting the estates will bring to life the stories of Edison and Ford, making their contributions more relevant and engaging to the students.

Cultural Appreciation: The estates also offer insights into the lifestyle and culture of the early 1900s, broadening students’ perspectives and fostering an appreciation for history and innovation.

Critical Thinking and Inquiry: The trip will encourage students to ask questions, think critically about historical events, and connect them to contemporary issues, thereby enhancing their analytical skills. 

 

Budget Narrative

To ensure that every student can participate in this valuable educational experience, we are requesting a grant of $1,120.
The breakdown of the budget is as follows:

Admission Fees: $920 (entry tickets for students and chaperones)
Miscellaneous: $200 (snacks for students to have on the road)
