Goal

The goal of this grant is to support the positive impact play has on our school and improve our students’ overall health and well-being. In addition, our “It's Time for Recess! (Are You Ready?!)” project will help support additional school-wide initiates that include, however are not limited to: academics, physical education class, positive behavior, student achievement, student recognition and life skills. Having a variety of different apparatuses will allow for more students to feel comfortable participating in Recess, increase their sense of belonging and increase their level of engagement in play.

Physical Education Equipment - Rackets, bats, balls, nets, jump ropes, etc. 

 

What will be done with my students

Students will have the opportunity to PLAY using equipment during Recess and other outdoor related school-wide events and activities.  

 

Benefits to my students

Recess consists of physical activities of at least a moderate intensity level and for a duration sufficient to provide a significant health benefit to students; subject to the differing capabilities of students.

If granted the opportunity to participate in this project we would have an endless list of benefits that would support the goal of this grant and what would be done. Benefits include, however are not limited to:
• increasing students’ level of physical activity
• improving students’ memory
• improving students’ attention
• improving student’ concentration and hand-eye coordination
• helping students stay on-task in the classroom
• reducing disruptive and/or off-task behavior in the classroom
• improving overall social and emotional development among students on campus (i.e.: learning how to share, fair play and negotiation)
• promote teamwork and team building
• help lower the risk of childhood obesity
 

 

Budget Narrative

Items approved will be purchased on Amazon.com. Items will be cared for and stored responsibly to the best of our ability to avoid wear and tear. Overtime due to normal wear and tear, few products will need to be replaced. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
