Goal
The River Springs Middle School Culinary program has been a staple in the school's curriculum for years, providing students with a unique opportunity to develop valuable culinary skills and explore their creativity in the kitchen. However, the current cookware used in the program is over 6 years old, incomplete, and in poor condition. The constant use of worn-out equipment by 300 students each week has taken a toll on the cookware, making it hazardous and inefficient for students to learn and complete their cooking labs.

What will be done with my students
The standards and Benchmarks that will utilize the use of cookware in the Family Consumer Sciences curriculum are 10.03 which is using various types of cooking techniques which means students need various types of equipment. 5.04 requires the students to have equipment that is safe and efficient for food service. 6.0 has emphasis on students using culinary equipment that they have access to. Students will have access to this new and safe equipment each week to complete various cooking labs.
Benefits to my students
Upgrading to new cookware will have numerous benefits for the Culinary program:
• Improved Safety: New cookware will ensure that students have access to equipment that is safe to use, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries in the kitchen.
• Enhanced Learning Experience: Modern cookware will provide students with a better understanding of cooking techniques and methods, allowing them to focus on developing their culinary skills rather than struggling with outdated equipment.
• Increased Efficiency: Complete sets of cookware will enable students to complete cooking labs with ease, streamlining the learning process and allowing instructors to provide more focused instruction.
• Better Outcomes: With high-quality cookware, students will be able to produce dishes that showcase their creativity and skills, leading to a sense of pride and accomplishment.
By investing in new cookware, River Springs Middle School's Culinary program will be able to provide students with a positive and engaging learning experience that prepares them for future culinary endeavors. We believe that every student deserves access to proper working equipment that is in good shape and safe to use.
