As the school counseling department, we aim to create immersive and engaging interactions with our students. We believe that implementing innovative tools like virtual reality (VR) will greatly benefit both our students and staff. By sparking students' imagination through VR experiences that make them feel as if they are truly there, we ensure that students remain engaged, motivated, and challenged throughout their high school years. Our goal is to provide both students and staff with new and exciting ways to experience learning, enhancing educational outcomes and promoting personal growth.

Additionally, we hope that this experience will not only deepen the connection between students and their counselors but also enhance relationships among the entire school staff. By fostering new connections across the staff in our visits to classrooms to speak with students, this tool can improve morale and contribute to greater success for our students.

Goal

As the school counseling department, we aim to create immersive and engaging interactions with our students. We believe that implementing innovative tools like virtual reality (VR) will greatly benefit both our students and staff. By sparking students' imagination through VR experiences that make them feel as if they are truly there, we ensure that students remain engaged, motivated, and challenged throughout their high school years. Our goal is to provide both students and staff with new and exciting ways to experience learning, enhancing educational outcomes and promoting personal growth.

What will be done with my students

1. Create immersive experiences that capture students' attention and make college tours and college talk more exciting within our school walls. This increased engagement can lead to better outcomes in both academic and emotional development.

2. allow students to explore various scenarios in a safe and controlled environment. For example, students can practice social skills, conflict resolution, or coping strategies without real-world consequences, providing valuable practice and confidence building.

3. VR can offer virtual tours of colleges, universities, and workplaces, allowing students to explore different career paths and educational opportunities firsthand. This can help students make more informed decisions about their future.

4. VR can be used for relaxation and mindfulness exercises. Guided VR meditation or stress-relief programs can help students manage anxiety, improving their overall well-being and performance in school.

5. Through role-playing and interactive simulations, students can practice social interactions and develop essential communication skills. This is particularly beneficial for students who may struggle with social anxiety or autism spectrum disorders.

6. Our Mental health Counselor can use VR to simulate real-life situations where students can practice appropriate behaviors and decision-making. This hands-on approach can be more effective than traditional methods.

7. VR can also be used to involve parents in their child's education and counseling. Virtual parent-teacher conferences or workshops can bridge the gap between home and school, promoting a more cohesive support system for the student.

 

 

Benefits to my students

By incorporating VR into their practices, school counselors can offer more dynamic, effective, and personalized support to their students, ultimately contributing to their academic success and personal growth. This investment in VR technology aligns with our commitment to providing cutting-edge resources that support the holistic development of our students.

We expect to see:

- Improved social-emotional skills and reduced anxiety.
- Enhanced career readiness through virtual job shadowing and college tours.
- Strengthened relationships between students, counselors, and staff.
 

 

Budget Narrative

We request funding for the purchase of 5-10 VR headsets, associated software, and necessary accessories. This investment will aid with the overall cost of $6,358 while I work with other collaborators and our schools administration team to find other grants.

Theme Park, Expeditions 360, World Events, Eduversity

3. **ClassVR Set of 8 Cubes** $90
Comprising of: 8 x ClassVR Cubes (CVR-ASC-CUB)

4. **ClassVR Remote Training** $699
Remote training for ClassVR devices and content for upto 10 users.

5. Shipping: $90$

**Justification:**
The requested VR headsets will allow the counseling team to implement innovative approaches to student support, making interventions more engaging and effective. VR experiences can provide students with realistic scenarios for career exploration, social skills development, and stress management, ultimately contributing to their academic success and personal growth.
