The goal of this grant is to equip middle school students with organizers to enhance their ability to manage assignments, track deadlines, and stay organized, addressing the overwhelming nature of digitization for both students and parents. By providing these tools, we aim to promote organizational habits that support academic success and reduce stress. This technical solution will help students navigate the complexities of digital and physical learning environments, fostering skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

ELA & Study Skills Standards (Grades 6-8):
ELA.6.W.1.2 - Organize Writing: Use appropriate organizational structures for different types of writing, including clear introductions, logical sequencing of ideas, and effective conclusions. This standard helps students understand how to structure their written work, aligning with organizational skills.

ELA.7.W.2.4 - Effective Note-Taking: Utilize strategies for effective note-taking and drafting, including organizing information coherently and revising notes for clarity and accuracy.

ACADEMIC STANDARDS:
Study Skills:
SS.8.S.4.3 - Note-Taking and Study Techniques: Utilize effective note-taking strategies and study techniques, including summarizing information, organizing notes, and reviewing material regularly to enhance comprehension and retention.

SS.6.S.2.3 - Goal Setting: Set academic and personal goals, and develop plans to achieve them, including tracking progress and adjusting strategies as needed.

SS.7.S.1.4 - Communication with Parents: Use tools and strategies to communicate academic progress and needs with parents or guardians, fostering a supportive learning environment at home.

English and Language Arts:
ELA.8.R.1.2 - Text Organization: Analyze how authors structure their texts, including headings, subheadings, and other organizational features, to understand and apply similar techniques in their own work.

SS.6.S.2.1 - Organizational Skills: Demonstrate the ability to use organizational tools such as planners, calendars, and checklists to manage assignments and deadlines effectively.

SS.7.S.3.2 - Time Management: Develop and apply strategies for managing time effectively, including setting priorities, creating schedules, and breaking tasks into manageable steps.

What will be done with my students

Students will use their organizers to track both short-term tasks and long-term assignments, ensuring they manage deadlines effectively and stay on top of their workload. They will proactively take organized notes during classes and study sessions, enhancing their ability to review and retain information. Additionally, by regularly updating their organizers and sharing this information with their families, students will establish an extra line of communication, helping parents stay informed about academic progress and upcoming deadlines. 

 

Benefits to my students

The benefit to students is that the organizers will help them manage their assignments and deadlines more effectively, reducing stress and improving academic performance. By keeping detailed records and taking proactive notes, students will enhance their learning and retention of information. Additionally, the increased communication with families will foster better support at home, leading to a more cohesive and supportive learning environment.






 

 

Budget Narrative

This budget requests $1,800.00 to purchase 200 student organizers, each priced at $9.00. These organizers will be provided to middle school students to help them effectively manage both short-term and long-term assignments, improve their note-taking practices, and establish a better line of communication with their families. By addressing the challenges of digitization, these organizers will support students in staying organized and reduce academic stress, fostering essential skills for lifelong success.
