Goal

My goal is to provide ALL of the fourth grade students at Herbert Cambridge Elementary Elementary with hands on activities for each of our Science units.

Category

Learning Aids - Sunshine state book sets, robotics kits, puzzle boards, science models, engineering supplies, etc.

What will be done with my students

All students learn when they're able to participate in hands on learning. I want to make sure this is the best year ever for fourth grade Science by having our students take part in centers, experiments, investigations, journaling opportunities, hands on activities and even field trips.

Benefits to my students

The benefits students get from participating in hands on activities are seeing it and understanding how it works. They especially love questioning it and wondering the how and why. The various centers and hands on activities really help our kids grasp the understanding of the different topics we learn about in Science!

Budget Narrative

This project is for the entire fourth grade at Hebert Cambridge Elementary School.

Practice of Science and Models- different hands on activities that help students make observations and learn what science is all about. Also, flower models and a solar system models.
Flowering Plants, Lifecycles, and Energy and Food Chains- paper plate and yarn activity to create food chains, take apart flower models and label parts and their function.
Characteristics and Inherited Traits and Weathering and Erosion- students compare pictures of puppies and dogs to determine inherited characteristics and weathering and erosion activities with chalk, soil, and foil pans
Minerals and Rocks, Earth's Resources, Earth's Rotation, and Moon- minerals and rocks kits, streak kits, magnets and globe to discover Earth's rotation and phases of the moon.
Properties of Matter and Magnets, Conservation of Matter, and Changes in Matter- magnet kits and hands on activities with solids, liquids, and gasses.
Seasonal Changes, Forms of Energy, Energy Transfer, and Motion and Speed- scavenger hunt around school for various forms of energy, hands on activity for motion and speed.
The Conservancy field trip cost is for busses. The Conservancy is covering the cost of the field trip.
Consumable science supplies will cover various supplies that we use on a daily basis such as paper plates, balloons, food die, and other things that can only be used once.
