Goal

The impact of this request is to provide students a way to practice math time and time again in a more flexible setting. Further, dry erase sleeves can be mounted on the wall easily so that students can stand while they practice. For our third grade students math comes after lunch after they have already had several hours of school. Creating an atmosphere where students can stretch after eating will give students an option to move who might otherwise become tired after eating.

What will be done with my students

The dry erase sleeves have versatility. The clear pockets allow for multiple practice opportunities. Math Frayer models encourage students to show more than one thinking strategy. Unlike a dry erase board different practice models can be switched out easily for more focused instruction.

Moreover, having the dry erase pockets mounted on the wall will support tiered instruction. It allows quick visibility, so that immediate interventions can be provided when needed.  

 

Benefits to my students

Having students participate simultaneously ensures that everyone is engaged. The clear pockets will also be beneficial in catching misconceptions as they occur and providing corrective feedback right away. In addition, the sleeves will allow for students to showcase their work and move around to collaborate with their peers if they are struggling with concept and need a quick hint on how to proceed with a problem. Students who might otherwise be apprehensive to respond begin to gain confidence when they recall where to begin. Practice promotes progress and maximizes student engagement! 

 

Budget Narrative

The dry erase sleeves will be utilized to practice math, and many will be mounted on the wall for student access. The dry erase markers will be used with the sleeves, and the erasers will be used to keep the clear pocket sleeves clean and reusable.
